North Georgia Credit Union Announces Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for
New Lavonia Office
TOCCOA, GA – North Georgia Credit Union will hold the grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration for the new Lavonia office on Thursday, April 21 at 10:00 a.m. The new 3,100 square foot office located at 11850 Augusta Road features a full-service lobby equipped with an ATM and a three-lane drive thru with two-way video.
North Georgia Credit Union opened its first branch office in Lavonia on December 13, 2005, across the street from the new location. The credit union had amended its field of membership a few years prior in 2001 to include any associated employers located in Franklin County. The field of membership was amended once again in 2006 to allow any resident of Franklin County to join. Currently, the credit union serves the employees, retirees and family members of over 100 area companies, plus the residents of Stephens, Franklin and Hart counties.
According to Brian Akin, the credit union’s President/CEO, “The opening of our new branch office in Lavonia is a major milestone in the growth of our credit union. Since first opening an office here in 2005, the credit union has been blessed with solid growth year after year. Expanding our operations here will allow us to make our services more accessible to our members and continue to grow our business in the years ahead. It’s exciting to be able to make this investment as we demonstrate our commitment to a community that has already treated us so well. I look forward to what the future holds for North Georgia Credit Union as we carry-out our mission of Helping People Afford Life.”
Howe Construction, Inc., a design-build company headquartered in Roswell, GA, built the lodge style branch, which features an inviting seating area and fireplace as well as a detached three-lane drive thru. Stan Howe, President of Howe Construction, commented, “We are pleased to help celebrate this occasion, just as we did over ten years ago when we built out the branch across the street. We’re happy for the success and service of North Georgia Credit Union to their members resulting in this beautiful new office.”
Also at the new Lavonia office on Thursday, April 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the credit union will hold an NGCU member appreciation day to celebrate its 75th Anniversary, which will include giveaways, cash prizes and refreshments. This day will serve as an opportunity for the credit union to thank the membership for helping NGCU to reach these significant milestones.
